Silly us- after writing a post YESTERDAY about how she’s likely not pregnant, St. James Palace goes today and announces that she is. It seems like Jessica Hay knows her stuff- first workday in December and announcement!
Kate’s pregnancy was confirmed by the Palace today, December 3rd, 2012. She is said to be less than 12 weeks along and would not have announced the pregnancy for much longer but has been hospitalized with hyperemesis gravidarum . We can’t access the Duke and Duchess’ site (we guess too much traffic?) or the British Monarchy’s Official site, but expect to be able to soon. Major media outlets seem to have better internet access than me and are reporting on the story with more detail- check out the NY Times and BBC.
I completely sympathize with poor Kate as the nausea in the early stages of pregnancy is not fun in the least and if she’s been hospitalized I’d guess it would be due to dehydration. The condition can be very dangerous though, so I would expect her Royal Duties to be minimized as the pregnancy progresses for her and the baby’s safety. I also know that it’s not anyone’s dream to so very publicly announce a pregnancy in such early stages and especially with news of a hospitalization, but I sincerely hope that Kate has a chance to see the outpouring of love that I’ve seen this morning on Twitter.
There will be MUCH more reported on the pregnancy as it progresses, and WWKD will be no exception. Having had a baby myself, I’ll be taking point on much of the pregnancy news. I’m excited to see what she wears during the pregnancy, how her workload changes and then I’ll be joining in the legions of people trying to guess the name of the future King or Queen of England.
Here’s to a healthy pregnancy for Kate and we are amongst the millions who can’t wait to see HRH Cambridge!
Great site! Good article to get us out the gates on a momentous event!!! #royalbaby
