The first time I saw a really fabulous, high definition, close up photograph of Catherine, my self esteem hit the floor. My milky white skin had recently taken a turn for the worst (thanks to three months of ingesting nothing but smog and In-n-Out burgers), often looking red, blotchy, and all around unattractive.
So when I saw Kate’s flawless complexion, I attributed this to good genes and that wonderful English air. If only we could bottle that English air! We would all have gorgeous complexions and rosy cheeks.

When the word got out that the Duchess of Cambridge used Laura Mercier products, it all made sense. It’ s not just the English air! Laura Mercier is often regarded as the best. Their foundations, tinter moisturizers, powders and primers are unbeatable and well worth the price tag.
Kate has been rumored to use Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer. The tinted moisturizer is practically synonymous with the brand, as it is a customer favorite. Available in four different types (Regular, oil free, illuminating, and creme compact), they all boast an SPF of 20 and a rainbow of skin tone colors.

I had never tested Laura Mercier before, despite the highly regarded rumors. So off I went to my local Blue Mercury to test it out. If you live in the United States, you simply must find your closest Blue Mercury. Travel hundreds of miles. This place is Female Mecca. I swear, heaven is a Blue Mercury store.

So I waltzed into Female Mecca to test out the product. Kate reportedly uses the regular product, so that’s what I had to test. The color watching was impressive. I tend to find that the only product that matches my creamy skin is ricotta cheese, so finding a foundation is impossible. Laura Mercier’s Porcelain color matched perfectly. I also loved the coverage – enough to hide my flaws but no signs of cake or airbrushing. A natural perfection.
I wore the product for the rest of the day to really see if it worked for me. Never buy a new beauty product on your first try. Make sure it lasts all day, feels good, comes off easily, and doesn’t induce a break out or rash. It was a good decision for this product, because about an hour later my normally-oily skin felt extra oily.
I returned to Bluemercury and told them my conundrum, so they switched me over to Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer. I found the same results without the oily aftermath with the new product. With any beauty product, find your fit. This will be a resounding comment in my reviews: use what works for you!!
Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. Test it out, wear it for a day, and hopefully you will love it as much as Kate and I do!

New to the blog? The Royal Beauty Bag series features all of the products that Kate is known to use (or have used) to achieve the Princess look that we all want to emulate. We referenced Purple Daisies article to find Kate’s beauty regimen and then went out and purchased all of the products ourselves. We also had a giveaway to kick off the series- while closed, you can still check out all the swag we gave away at our Royal Beauty Giveaway Contest post.
I got a sample of the tinted moisturiser this weekend so I’m looking forward to trying out the product. On the other hand, I recommend Origins’ VitaZing SPF15. I prefer it over foundations / tinted moisturisers!
I love Origins products! They always smells so great. I’m currently swooning over Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Enriched Face Base. It smells AMAZING.
