I am convinced that the Duchess of Cambridge must be really, really tired. She must really be exhausted. Between her royal duties, her wifely duties, her family duties, and her new mommy duties, the woman must have terrible dark circles.
Why am I convinced, you ask? Because in our Royal Beauty Bag series, we reviewed four different under eye dark circle remedies. You can read about The Duchess’ experiment with YSL Touche Eclat and her experience with that product.
I was surprised to see that three under eye products came from Bobbi Brown – although the former Kate Middleton loves Bobbi Brown products. As usual, I hopped on over to my local Bobbi Brown counter, sat in the leather chair, and let them do their worst. We tested all three products in one day, something that my under eyes were not happy about. But hey, I killed three birds with one visit to Lord and Taylor. Spoiler alert: Only one of the three was good enough for me to keep!
Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit
The Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit is a little compact the size of a contact lens case. It contains two products – a creamy, moisturizing concealer in a tone to coordinate with your skin tone and a solid translucent powder. You apply the concealer with a brush, sponge or fingertips and then set it with a dusting of the powder. It might take some practice to avoid creasing, but your under eyes look like they were photoshopped! It stays all day long and keeps under eyes feeling moist and comfortable. Apparently this is used to layer underneath other products, but it looked amazing on its own.
Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener
The Eye Brightener comes in a little tube with an applicator, much like lip gloss or other concealers you might use. The formula is a shade lighter than your skin tone. The application is easy – dab on some of the product and blend with a brush or your fingertips. The Eye Brightener has a slight opalescent effect to it to make the eyes look brighter and illuminated. This was definitely lighter coverage. My under eyes looked enhanced, and less zombie-like, but there was still some purple tint to them. This is great for the weekends when you want some coverage, but not a whole face of makeup.
Bobbi Brown Corrector
This comes in a small compact with a corrector in your perfect shade. You dab the corrector under your eyes and voila – dark circles are diminished! The formula was creamy but light. Overall, this was totally a happy medium between the Tinted Eye Brightener and the Concealer Kit. My under eyes looked better, but not perfect. My eyes looked brighter, but not shimmery. This is a great compromise product – good enough for every day AND getting dressed up.
So which one was good enough to come home with me?
Drum roll please….
The Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit is a phenomenal product. It allows for different levels of coverage, everything from “Zombie Monday” to “Well Rested Sunday.” I use it daily, starting at the inner corners of my eyes and blending out as necessary. All three products had their benefits, but this one worked for me. Try them out at your local Bobbi Brown counter and see what works for you!
I’m not as much concerned about under-eye dark circles as I am about under-eye bags. Got any treatment ideas for those?
