A few weeks back, I wrote a post featuring four different looks, inspired by Kate, for travelling in style, and today I’m going to share with you again four different Kate-inspired formal looks suitable for different occasions where your best jeans just will not do. Once again, you can find all these looks along with the shops and prices here. Enjoy!
This first look is taken from this year’s Coronation Service which the Duchess of Cambridge attended with the Royal Family back in June where Kate wore a lovely peach-coloured Jenny Packham dress and coat. The variation for this look that I’ve chosen could be worn for a wedding so I’ve teamed a peach dress with peach shoes, and a pretty white clutch, which would be perfect for the summer or any place hotter than rainy Britain!
You never know when you or someone you know will be invited to a ‘black tie’ affair, and though the dress code is straightforward for male attendees, it’s a little more open for women, obviously. This is look is another one that’s inspired from when Kate attended the Military Awards at the Imperial War Museum in 2011 along with Prince William and Prince Harry. To a simple long, black, evening gown, I’ve added a simple and understated black clutch with bow detailing, and a gold bangle to bring a little brightness to the look.
The third look for a garden party is inspired from the yellow dress Kate wore when leaving the Solomon Islands following her and Prince William’s royal tour. The dress she wore featured lace so I’ve picked out a pale yellow dress infused with a tiny bit of lace at the waist and at the hem. I’ve also paired it with some pale, yellow shoes with a chunkier heel so you don’t get stuck in the grass!
Everyone has been offered an interview at some point in their lives and subsequently put the phone down to then begin fretting about what they’re going to wear. I actually thought that the outfit Kate wore following the Royal wedding – the blue dress and black blazer – was a great, formal look but looked effortlessly stylish. So I’ve taken the entire basic outfit and just offered a different version of everything she wore, like the mid-length blue dress which looks feminine yet not like you’re going out on the town after.
