We were thrilled and surprised to wake up to the news of Kate’s first major appearance since the birth of Prince George. The Duchess of Cambridge joined her husband, Prince William, to officially start the Ring of Fire Marathon, a 135-mile marathon around Anglesey Island.
According to the Ring of Fire website, the event is known as an “ultra marathon.”
This epic foot race is staged over three consecutive days (Start 1300hrs 30 August 2013 – 1 September 2013 ) and follows the rugged and spectacular Anglesey Coastal Path around the island. The extreme distance and variable terrain places Ring O’ Fire as one of the most extreme ultra marathons in the United Kingdom.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Snowdonia Mountain Range, Ring O’ Fire offers adventurous runners the opportunity to challenge their limits in some of the most awe inspiring coastal scenery in Wales.
Anglesey is dear to William and Catherine’s hearts, being their home and haven for the past few years as Will worked as a Search and Rescue Pilot for the RAF. The couple are making efforts to show the community just how much they love and appreciate the island. Most recently, William attended a local festival on the island. Kate’s appearance today, being so unexpected and quick after George’s birth, is said to be an act of thanks to the people of the charming island they love so much.
Everyone was thrilled to see Kate, despite Georgie’s absence. The event even changed one young man’s views on the monarchy! During the meet-and-greet, the boy said to Kate “I don’t see a point in having a royal family.” Kate awkwardly responds as best she can, but the boy cuts her off saying “Until now!”
Speaking of little Prince George, he was at their whitewashed farmhouse nearby with Grandma Carole!

Her Zara top, first seen at the 2012 Olympics and then again this past winter on a skiing holiday.

She accessorized with her Kiki McDonough “Grace” stud earrings and her Gucci watch. The watch is an older piece, but the classic design makes it elegant and timeless!
Overall, her entire outfit was simply plucked from her wardrobe, making her seem even more “normal” – y’know, if she were normal.
