Is it just me, or is the Duchess sporting a more relaxed hair-do of late? Maybe the busyness of motherhood is effected her usual beauty regimen, but at her past few public events, Kate’s hair has been looking a bit more natural and hassle-free.
For example, at this week’s christening for Prince George, Kate’s hair was worn straight, which she elects to do very rarely, mostly favoring her bouncy curls in the past. And earlier, at the SportsAid athletes workshop, while her hair was curled, it was much more loose and casual than her pre-George events. The new style is even infiltrating her black tie look, where it was almost undone at the Tusk Trust benefit.

While the effect is minimal, I personally love the relaxed style. It works well with her naturally good looks, and keeps in step with her fresh and unfussy makeup. The great news is that the look is easy to replicate at home for all of us!
The best way to achieve the look is to use a large round curing iron. The trick is to gather small sections of hair, and use the curling iron to twist your hair away from your face. Slowly slide your hair through the curling iron while rotating the iron towards the back of your head; don’t actually wrap your hair around the curing iron. Twist each piece of hair through the curling iron this way. Run your fingers through your hair once you’ve curled all the pieces, and then spritz it with a flexible hairspray at the ends.
Kate’s new look is a perfect daytime look for all of us. It’s very approachable, yet polished enough for the office. I hope you give the style a try! What do you think of her new look?
This biggest change to the Duchess’ hair is its gradual length change. She has grown it out several inches since her bouncy curls were last seen in all of their glory. Longer hair, even if only by a few inches, can be much harder to style, more difficult to keep its hold, or it may not even react as it did when it was shorter. The Duchess is simply complying with her hair’s current length and the possibility of hormonal changes that pregnancy brings along.
