The Method Behind Kate’s New Hair Cut

January 24, 2014      10 Comments

Kate has been wearing a newer, darker hair color of late, and we think it looks fabulous!  The color looks wonderful with her skin tone and really brings out the color of her eyes.  It’s the perfect choice for her over the colder months of winter, and I expect we shall see her lighten it up a bit come spring.

But hair color aside, what we really love is her new style.  Her look has taken on a more natural appearance, loosing the thick curls, and at multiple events recently, she has worn it up, half up, or even straight.  This is the adjustment that naturally comes with being a new mum, not having time for fussy things like rollers and such, but it could also be the influence of Kate’s new hair dresser, Rossano Ferretti.

Ferretti, who has salons all over the world from Madrid to Mumbai, is famous for his ‘method’ haircut.  The Italian-born salon owner believes that each strand of hair is different, and his concept is to cut the hair so that it works with the natural fall of each strand.  The cut costs a whopping $984 and can take around six hours to complete.

The process is done with handmade texturizing scissors.  According to Ferretti’s website, after a consultation with the salon’s ‘designers,’ a client can expect a cut that has a natural effect, that is subtly carved and harmonious.  They treat each haircut like a work of art.

We can see from Kate’s most recent events, such as her visit to Shooting Star Hospice or even the SportsBall, it looks as though she has done minimal work to her hair and it appears to fall very naturally.  You can really see the influence of Ferretti when comparing her hairstyle to older photos.

Pippa Middleton is said to be a regular at the salon, and Ferretti once cut Princess Diana’s hair as well.  It seems her hair is truly getting the royal treatment, one that we wish we could try!
