With a smile that charmed all of Australia and New Zealand just last month, it comes as no surprise that Duchess Kate was victorious in a Wrigley’s Extra gum survey on the best celebrity smiles. Conducted during National Smile Month, the duchess even beat out her musical idol, Cheryl Cole.
We all know there is nothing more beautiful than a happy and smiling woman — and we love being treated to Kate’s pearly whites at every engagement. Her warm energy is contagious.
We too can treat everyone in our lives to a bit more sunshine by just cracking a grin. But to make even more impact, check out our guide for striking smiles below:
Smile Gently
Say you were in a parade… For the entire hour plus, you wouldn’t hold your largest smile as your cheeks would be sore. The gentle half smile you would use in your largest grins place is actually more attractive. Your facial muscles are relaxed, making you seem more approachable and friendly.
When in Doubt, Lipstick Out
The right shade of lipstick makes your teeth look whiter. Blue or pink undertones will help to minimize any yellowish tint to your teeth. However, be careful when you apply to not get any lipstick on your teeth. Carry a hand mirror to check, or when you are without one, a simple trick is to pop your finger in your mouth. When you pull it out, it will remove any excess lipstick that might have got caught on your teeth.
It All Starts at the Dentist
When you smile, you want to give people something pretty to look at, meaning clean teeth and healthy gums. Stick to those regular dentist visits, and be sure to brush and floss at home. Keeping your teeth healthy is one smart investment, not only for your looks, but your pocket.
Practice Makes Perfect
It may sound corny, but give your smile a try in the mirror. Just like you’d rehearse an important presentation, you want to make sure you’re giving your best smile when it counts. Figure out what looks best on you, and then practice turning towards the mirror and flashing those pearly whites.
So, go, dazzle those around you. Kate proves that it’s in your power to make everyone’s day a bit brighter just with your smile.
