Welcome to My Royal Closet! Each month, take a look into a different closet that has been royally-inspired by Kate. The Duchess of Cambridge has been a huge influence on our closets, and we want to share our favorite repliKates and outfits with you!
Meet Cris: Cris is a Student Financial Counselor for a private university. She currently resides in Bellevue, Nebraska but has lived on the East Coast, the West Coast, up North, and down South before settling back in the Midwest about 5 years ago. She has quite the wardrobe to rival the Middleton sisters and asks herself before each purchase, “would Kate wear this?”.
Russell & Bromley Charge It Boots
According to R& B, “The classic zipped riding boot in luxurious black suede is elegant and sophisticated for easy chic all day long. Multiple elastic inserts add to the detail, elongate the leg and allow for flexible width fittings. Wear over skinny trousers or with dresses for chic style”. I could not agree more. I purchased these boots brand new a few years ago and are my go to boots once the weather starts to turn chilly. They are weather proof with plenty of room for extra socks on colder days. I love the versatility of being able to dress them up or down depending on my mood of the morning.
LK Bennett Lasa Dress
When I first saw this dress on our lady, I fell in love. I immediately called my contacts at LKB only to discover that the dress was already sold out worldwide. However, the dress was going to be re-issued with a select few coming to the states. I was placed on the waiting list and time was at a standstill for the couple of months (YEARS it seemed more like) it took for the dress to arrive on US soil again. This dress is more beautiful in person than any camera can capture. I did have to have the sleeves altered as they were quite long for my taste. The dress does wrinkle easily but as we all know, a lady must sit properly as to not have this happen-this dress is a great reminder of that!
Tusting Explorer Holdall
This canvas bag with tan leather trim is made of Sail Canvas. The website says it is big enough to hold everything you need for a weekend away for two people or a week by yourself. I personally think you can pack two weeks’ worth if packed properly! I can see why Kate chose this bag for many reasons; it quite a big bag, however it is very lightweight and holds quite a bit of gear. I use this lovely holdall for all my trips.
John Lewis 7 Denier Barely There Non-Slip Tights
I saw an article a few years back of Kate wearing these tights and thought what a brilliant idea! I have looked everywhere for a company that makes nonslip hose and the only company to be found is John Lewis. They are quite comfortable and silky – almost massaging. They do run small so make sure you know your size before ordering! The tights are priced at £5 (roughly $7.83) and they will charge £25 ($39.15) to ship to the US. Since these tights are a denier of 7, they do rip easily therefore, when I order, I order quite a few to make the shipping cost worth it.
LK Bennett Sledge pump
Ah yes! Kate’s signature shoe! This 4 inch platform heel in light taupe has been photographed on our lady more times than we can remember. When I received my pair of these sleek “take you from the office to dinner effortlessly” heels, I knew immediately why they are the Duchess’ go to shoe. They are the most comfort heels I have ever put my feet into. They are made in Spain and the masterful craftsmanship is definitely worth the pricier tag on these shoes. The ladylike silhouette is a sophisticated and elegant staple. I currently own six pairs of Sledges: Light Taupe, Red, Navy, Clay (gray), Tortoiseshell, and Navy glitter. With the almond toe, this LK B style does have a slightly narrow fit so you might want to order a half size up from your normal size. However, it does fit like a glove when properly fitted.
Wow! Hi neighbor!! I went to Bellevue East and live in the area! Glad to see another Catherine admirer so close to home!! Great collection! Especially the LKB! I love the carry all
Cheers!
Greetings Mrs K. I graduated a Chieftain-Class of ’88!!! We should grab a cup of tea sometime.
Fabulous post! Cris you have a beautiful collection (and we both have quite the Sledge collection though I only have them in light taupe, red, tortoise and winter rose). And these photos are simply fantastic! They make me want to reshoot my post!
Thank you Ashley. I have quite a few LKB shoes (14 in total) as the craftsmanship is like no other and I believe this is why they are so comfortable that we can wear them all day. I am always on the look out for more colors to add to my Sledge collection!!!
