We are all still eagerly awaiting the arrival of Royal Baby #2! The Lindo Wing steps are empty, the press pen is a ghost town, and the Twitterverse has gone a bit nutty. While we wait, we wanted to share our thoughts and ideas for the new royal baby’s name! Wills and Kate, take note!
We know that the little prince or princess will have a royal title similar to Prince George’s – Prince/Princess “X” of Cambridge. Just what will X be? Team WWKD has some suggestions…

For a princess, I would love to see something unexpected – perhaps Annabelle or Rosemary. George was very traditional, and while a traditional name wouldn’t surprise me I am still holding out for something different!
For a prince, I would love to see Arthur! Arthur was my choice during Kate’s first pregnancy, but George is such a George that I can’t imagine him any other way. So this time, Prince Arthur of Cambridge!

If it’s a girl, I’d love to see Rose in there as a middle name! I don’t think it’s likely at all but after having visited Edinburgh last year (where Kate and William went to university together), I came up with the name theory! Edinburgh has an amazing shopping area (that I’m sure Kate was very well acquainted with!), and two of the prominent streets are called Princes and George – with Rose Street nestled sweetly in between. How adorable would it be to keep with that theme?! Or how about Charlotte, for the nearby Charlotte Square! For a boy, I love James (after Kate’s brother) or Michael (for her father).

Princess Alice – Because I believe in the magic powers of the betting brokers and it’s the only one on the list that would be original but not “out there” for a HRH.

Alice Elizabeth Victoria because it honors the Queen, and is still traditional, yet fun and whimsical.
Phillip Edward Charles, because it honors grandpa and great-grandpa!

My prediction is a girl named Victoria! I am choosing Victoria because of its royal tradition and I believe they will uphold the tradition of royally significant names! Plus Queen Victoria holds the record of longest reigning British monarch and longest reigning female monarch ever. What a great legacy to be named after!

Elizabeth – I think it’s a perfect nod to Her Majesty and a traditional name for Wills’s family while giving Kate her due as well, it being her middle name as we well know. It’s also perfectly shorten-able in at least a half-dozen ways to allow the Spare a chance to be a little unconventional (think: Uncle Harry). (In the interest of full disclosure, I am bound to confess that my daughter is an Elizabeth, so I may be a wee bit biased …)
Curious why Frances does not appeal in any girl name list I have seen. As Diana’s middle name, it would provide an opportunity to honor her, but indirectly enough to avoid the “pressure” that Diana would carry.
Because it’s a touch too Catholic…
To Gemma, Rose was also Princess Margaret’s middle name. Frances would be a nod to Catherine’s father too (middle name Francis). I can’t decide on my favorite princess name, but I do like Elizabeth and Charlotte. However, I think it’s a boy. I like James but as Edward and Sophie’s son is named James, I doubt they’ll choose it. I kind of like John (Diana’s father’s name). I like Alistair too.
I also like Valerie for a girl (Catherine’s grandmother’s name).
I think for a girl (which I really hope it is a girl) I like Alexandra Frances as a nice nod to both the Queen and Princess Diana. For a boy, I like Arthur Phillip…it’s a nice traditional name.
