One of my favorite trends for fall also happens to be one of my favorite pieces the Duchess of Cambridge has worn—a cape. Capes just feel perfect for fall weather and the plaid pattern adds a touch of English countryside whimsy. Plus, a cape couldn’t be easier to throw on with your favorite fall boots for an instantly put-together look.

Unfortunately the Zara cape the Duchess of Cambridge wore during her first pregnancy is no longer available. However, there are lots of great replicas to fit every budget. This fall, consider adding this quintessentially British piece to your wardrobe and cape it like Kate!

This cape from Merchant 31 is a near-perfect replica for Kate’s cape, down to the hook closure, pattern, and cut. (And judging by the description, that’s just what they intended.) At just $52, it’s inexpensive enough to experiment with adding to your fall rotation.

Another step up in the price range is this cape from Topshop for $160. Many of the details, such as the collar, buttons, and checked pattern, are different from the Duchess’s cape, but the overall look is very similar. If you’re a fan of these unique details, this is a great mid-price cape to cuddle up under this autumn.

Probably the closest match, this J. Crew houndstooth cape will set you back $350. But it is 100% wool, well made, and will keep you warm long into the cooler months to come. Whichever one is up your alley, try caping it like Kate (and looking good doing it) this fall!
