It’s about that time of year when thoughts turn to the coziness of hunkering down indoors. And what better way to spend a cold weekend inside than getting lost in a great book? Books can transport one much quicker (and cheaper) than a plane ticket to London can, so we recommend using your imagination and mentally venturing into Kate’s world by reading The Royal We, by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. We’ve got a whole royal-themed reading weekend planned for you, so sit back, relax, and have yourself a royal little weekend.
First thing’s first: go about setting a cozy British atmosphere before you being reading. A Union Jack throw blanket or pillow does the trick while keeping you warm and comfortable.

And since this is a royal weekend, you can’t go wrong with a cup of English tea. Try channeling the practically-royal Downton Abbey crew with one of their tea blends.

To imagine you’re nestled up in a castle library, a piping hot cuppa is best sipped out of your favorite British-themed mug. This Emma Bridgewater mug is perfect for the occasion.

Ready to read? The Royal We is a not-so-subtle reimagining of William and Catherine’s fairytale romance (the cover tells you that much), but this time with an American exchange student in the role of princess-to-be, perfect for all of us statesiders who’d like to imagine we could have a chance with a British prince.

The Royal We is an enjoyable, light read that fans of Kate will love for its fictional sneak peek into what the beginnings and the behind-the-scenes parts of Kate and William’s real relationship might have been like. The book is a reminder that in spite of all the glamour, Kate was a normal girl who just happened to fall in love with a prince. Told from the princess’ point of view, the book takes a critical look at media scrutiny, the pressures and stresses of living life in the public eye, and the struggles and issues facing all relationships. It’s hard not to imagine what Kate must have felt having her life thrust into the spotlight throughout her and William’s courtship.
All in all, we think you’ll love imagining life as a future royal in The Royal We and, if so, there’s more good news! The book is in talks to be made into a movie soon. Do you think William and Kate will see it?
