To celebrate our third birthday, we are featuring five encore My Royal Closets! We previously met Ashley in August 2014, and now she’s back to celebrate our birthday with five more fabulous royally-inspired pieces!
Meet Ashley: Ashley is writer of the new lifestyle blog Sed Bona and a lover of all beautiful things. She lives in Chicago with her handsome husband and two darling pugs. In August 2011 she travelled to London and had the privilege of seeing the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress on display at Buckingham Palace. From that moment on, Kate’s wardrobe has had the single biggest impact on both Ashley’s fashion and life philosophy of any style icon.
LK Bennett Davina Dress in Red
I confess — I bought this dress four months before Kate Middleton wore it publically. I heard she had purchased it at LK Bennett months before and ran over to the store here in Chicago to see the dress itself. I loved the charming draped but tailored silhouette and opted to purchase it in a bright red instead of Kate’s dark teal (I had a Christmas party to attend after all!). Generally Kate doesn’t sport tailored silhouettes that are flattering on curvier figures so this dress is a real gem in my closet! And I love necklines that are both delicate and interesting.
Pied a Terre Imperia Wedges
The ultimate walkable wedge! I’m not at all surprised that Kate wore these after giving birth to Prince George — they’re so comfortable! By far my most practical pair of wedges (a plus since I don’t wear flats terribly often thanks to my petite size). I love how slimming the elegant almond toe of the design is on my wide feet as well. I now own them in two other colors having fallen in love with my first cream-colored pair!
LK Bennett Avona Clutch in Taupe
A perfect grab ‘ n go evening bag. Designed to coordinate perfectly with Kate’s taupe sledges, this clutch is a classic wardrobe investment. It wears well (no scratches after two years) and pairs with absolutely everything. I’ve worn it everywhere from cruises, to Derby parties, to Christmas parties, to informal dinners. Any LK Bennett clutch is worth the investment — they’re timeless enough to always remain relevant!
Aquatalia ‘Royal’ Booties
Waterproof, walkable, wearable. So perfect for colder months. I have large calves (disproportionately large ones sadly) and despite my desperate love for K’s Rhumba boots, I knew I wouldn’t be able to fit in them. Then she wore these cute booties and I knew I’d found an elegant cold-weather heel to invest in. This pair was the first Kate Middleton purchase I made (even before my Sledges) and one of the first Christmas presents Hubby ever bought me so I get quite sentimental about them too. And so far I’ve been religious about waterproofing them each winter and they still look like new! Even after four years!
Ray-Ban Folding Wayfarer Sunglasses
I’d never had a pair of folding sunglasses until these. They’re timeless, classic, and wide enough to fit my large head. I especially love how compact they are — I throw them in my purse and go. They’re another classic that I reach for time and time again when I just don’t know what to wear. And I always take them boating — just like Kate!
