As with all Royal Tours, the speculation about what Kate will wear on the upcoming Tour of Canada is rampant. Will she wear Erdem again? Switch it up with some casual Lululemon? Perhaps try a local designer no one has heard of? There is one thing for certain – Canadian designers, retailers and fashion fans are loving the attention and press that comes along with a Royal Tour.
Rather than repeat lists of brands other media outlets have reported that she might wear (Lida Baday, Lululemon, Erdem, Pink Tartan, etc…), I thought I’d share with you today one brand that I think has some serious contention for Kate that has not gotten a lot of press. It’s a Canadian brand who makes gorgeous coats and is a favorite of the wife of the Canadian Prime Minister, Sophie Trudeau. The brand is Toronto-based luxury outdoorwear company Sentaler.
Sentaler was started only recently in 2009 by Belgrade-born, Canadian raised designer Bojana Sentaler. Using alpaca instead of the traditional wool makes the coats super soft and they don’t pill or wear like traditional coats. They have stylish accents (I love the ribbed sleeves on the new designs) and they also are dedicated to the artisans who gather their fibres. Alpacas fibres is often a main source of income for Peruvian families who raise them in the Andes. While working with alpaca fibre, Sentaler helps those families to sustain in their way of life.
In 2015, Sophie Trudeau, wife to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, was spotted wearing the designs and attention grew. The stylish “First Lady” has amazing personal style, much like Kate, and she fell in love with the Canadian brand. My personal favorite was the grey coat, above, but this white one is also gorgeous, no?
Here are three pieces from their current collection that we think would fit in well with Kate’s aesthetic and personality… As well as the recently announced Canadian event itinerary. It will almost certainly not be cool enough when Kate is in the Southern parts of British Columbia (in Victoria & Vancouver, there is more of a chance of rain than weather where these coats would be justified) but when you get up North to the Yukon, the weather could be quite cool.
A few years ago, the designer of Sentaler posted how her designs could be used as repliKates for Kate looks themselves – I wonder if that was a hint/nod to Kate’s styling team? 😉
You can find out more about Sentaler here, read about Sophie Trudeau’s style here, find more clothes we’d love to see Kate in here and find out more about the Royal Tour here. We can not wait to see if this brand will be worn by Kate when she tours Canada in only 11 short days.
