One of the things that we know of with certainty about the Duchess of Cambridge is that she is lucky enough to live in some very beautiful homes with a long history of regal inhabitants. Part of the allure of these majestic homes lies in their contents. A while ago, we looked at the decorating tenets that Kate follows when decorating her home, and one of those included the value Kate had assumed in merging historical pieces in combination with modern elements to create something unique all of her own. We get few glimpses into the inside of the Cambridge family homes – but when we do we see historical elements passed down such as paintings of ancestors adorning the walls as we see in this photo of Prince George meeting President Obama.
Unfortunately, we do not all have royal ancestors who have left us priceless antiques to add some vintage flair to our own home decorating schemes. If you’re like me, you would likely cringe at some of the “antiques” that have been attempted to be gifted to me as “family heirlooms”. So what does a girl trying to decorate like Kate turn to when trying to add some historical elements to her home decor without the royal archives at her disposal? We turned to the depths of Etsy for some ideas and thought we would share with you some of our favourite vintage royal memorabilia items that anyone could add to their homes to add a splash of regal inspiration… Without the inherited family history!
