There were no cheeky back-to-school photos released by Kensington Palace when Princess Charlotte and Prince George returned to school this past week. There have been rumored sightings of the children getting kitted out in their uniforms. But otherwise, things have been quiet on the W8 front. So how is the Duchess of Cambridge marking the changing of the season? My guess: a whole lot like every other mum of school-aged children.
There were pictures – we just didn’t see them
I’d bet my LK Bennetts that avid photographer Kate couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a snap or three to mark her children’s first day of the new term. But as is her hallmark, family privacy took precedence over social media likes, and since neither George nor Charlotte were starting at a new school, the photos will remain under wraps.
Back to work
Kate watchers are hoping that the beginning of the school year will also mark the end of the Duchess’s maternity leave (I mean, it’s practically fall, right?). Even if we don’t see Catherine stepping out for official events just yet, I expect she is using the extra hours of quiet gearing up to reengage with her favorite charities and causes.
One-on-One time with Louis
This season provides a special opportunity for the Duchess to bond with her youngest child! With Louis’s arrival so close to the beginning of summer, Kate probably hasn’t had much time to devote to him exclusively, and likewise has had to share his snuggles with Charlotte and George. And the timing couldn’t be better – with Prince Louis coming up on the five month age mark, he is likely to be sitting up, interested in play, and keen to explore. It is such a fun age, and Kate will enjoy the extra dedicated time marking those milestones with him.
#SelfCareSeptember . . .
Before anyone gets their Chelsea blowout all frizzy telling me that the Duchess of Cambridge leads a charmed existence and doesn’t need extra pampering, thankyouverymuch, I’m talking about personal time. Head space. Passion projects. Catching up with friends. After a summer under one roof with three littles, Kate might want to sit down with a book or catch up on Netflix (it’s been reported that she enjoyed reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Soceity and the film version dropped on Netflix last month). Likewise, her friends will have some more kid-free hours than over the summer months so it is the perfect time to grab a coffee and have a grown-up conversation.
What are your favorite back to school traditions? However she has chosen to spend this transition, we wish the Duchess the very best!
